Mark Gould - Designer Maker
After 25 years as a national newspaper journalist with a few decent front page splashes I fancied a change. So I studied furniture making at the Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design - previously the venerable and world-renowned London College of Furniture in Aldgate in the East End of London.
On graduation in 2014 I set up a workshop just down the road in Bow where I have made a series of commissioned pieces using fine sustainable hardwoods. Time permitting I am also working up my own range. Watch this space.
I use traditional and modern construction techniques with an emphasis on clean, timeless lines. Influences include the usual greats; Arts and Crafts , Scandinavia, Ercol, and Bauhaus. Come down to the workshop for a cup of tea and a chat.
